Joseph Brooker
of Chelsfield dated 11 January 1830
Abstract of the will of Joseph Brooker of
Chelsfield gentleman dated 11 January 1830.
My dear wife Mary Brooker shall have the use and enjoyment of
all my plate, linen, household goods and furniture in or about my dwelling
house at Chelsfield or such part as she shall think proper during her
lifetime and at her death, or at any time before that if she so desire,
these effects shall be converted into money and be accounted part of my
personal Estate.
I give to my son Samuel Brooker and his heirs for ever all
that my undivided third part of a certain freehold estate and premises at
Sidcup in the parishes of Foots Cray and Chislehurst in the occupation of
--- Parsons and --- Hodgkinson
I appoint and bequeath to Thomas Mosyer of Orpington, farmer
and my sons Joseph Chapman Brooker and Samuel Brooker in trust to sell all
residue of my estate except what shall consist of Government Stock, and to
pay my debts and testamentary expenses, and the following legacies -
To my son Joseph Chapman Brooker £1900, to my son Samuel
Brooker £1000 and to each of my four daughters Elizabeth, Mary, Amy and
Jane Brooker £1000 each.
I give to the said Thomas Mosyer and to my two said sons £20
each for their trouble about the execution of the Trusts of this will.
After payment of these legacies they are to invest the
residue of my personal Estate in Government securities and to pay the
interest arising to my wife Mary for life. After her death the residue of
my personal estate is to be divided equally among my said sons and
daughters.
If my wife shall be desirous of occupying the farm now in
possession called Lilly’s in Chelsfield from the time of my decease she
shall be at liberty to do so, and shall for that purpose have the use of
the farming utensils, live and dead stock and other effects, which after
her death are to be sold and form part of my personal estate.
I appoint the above-named Thomas Mosyer, Joseph Chapman
Brooker and Samuel Brooker as my Executors.
Joseph Brooker witnesses James Fuller Madox, solicitor,
Austin Friars, William Hills, Chelsfield, William Morgan, Chelsfield.
Proved 7 June 1832 by the Executors named. [PCC will
