Toke's and others, Heraldic Ledger Stones in Kent churches

Mary MAWE  1746/7  St Nicholas Church, Rochester

The medallion measures 21⅞inch x 20¼inch and is cut in relief on a blue ledger stone 74inch x 38inch in the Nave, close to the west door.

Arms: ... on a chevron ... between three lions’ heads, erased ... as many roundels ... impaling ... a lion ramp. between eight escallops.

Here lieth the Body of Mrs Mary MAWE Aged 88 died December 27th 1746/7. Also here lieth the Body of Mrs Mary MENDELBERGH Aged 66 her only daughtger who died three hours after her dear mother. Both Paterns of Paternal and filial affection. Also Mary wife of Robert BAZLEY and daughter of Errick Wendlebergh who died the 4th of February 1749 Aged 43 years.
