Abstract of Will from Hythe, Kent from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Thomas WREAKE of Hythe, Kent 26 April 1549

Thomas WREAKE, lett’edman, 26 April 1549.
Buried in church or churchyard.
Wife Elisabeth my Executor to pay all debts. If wife marry then my four sons – William, John, Richard, Thomas, be Executors.
Wife have all income from my lands, etc. in Hithe and Dover, Saltwood, Westhithe, keeping Richard my youngest son until years of discretion, and be put to some honest craft or learning.
Sons William and John to be kept at the discretion of my wife.
Daughter Juliane a bed with all thereto, two silver spoons.
Son William when 20 one of the best silver salts, great goblet, four silver spoons of the Apostles.
Son John when 20 another silver salt, four silver spoons of the Apostles.
Son Richard when 20 a little silver salt, four silver spoons of the Apostles.
Each son heir to the other.
Residue of goods after marriage or death of wife Elisabeth to my sons then living.
After death or marriage of my wife son William have my chief tenement in Hithe wherein I dwell, with gardens and lands in Hithe and Saltwood and to his heirs.
Then son John my two little tenements on east side of my chief tenement, all yearly rents in Hithe, land called Three Cornedmede in Westhithe and to his heirs.
Then son Richard my chief tenement in Dover with gardens, meadows, and to his heirs.
Then son Thomas my lesser tenement next my chief tenement in Bekyn Street (Dover) and to his heirs.
If any son die before 20 without lawful issue, the others be heirs. If they all so die then lands, etc. to daughter Juliane and Agnes, daughter of John WREAKE my son, late of Newmarket in Suffolk.
