Abstract of Will from Hythe, Kent from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Thomas SYRE of Hythe, Kent 1507

Thomas SYRE, 1507.
Buried in churchyard.
High altar 2s. Reparation of the church 2s. Brotherhood of St Peter four bushels of wheat.
William SYRE my brother a tawny gown, 6s.8d, a mare and horse.
Henry SYRE my brother a red gown, and four metts (a bushel measure) of salt.
William, son of Water HOKER, 12 ewes.
Wife Joan 240 ewes.
Wife have my house for life, then to my children (no names) but if they die without lawful issue, then to my brothers William and Henry, and yearly they do for me 5s. in the church for 10 years.
Witnesses – Christian WELLS, William SYRE, Mr Alexander LEVYNGTON.
Probate 21 February 1507-8.
