Abstract of Will from Goodnestone next Wingham, Kent from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Richard QUYLTER of Goodnestone next Wingham 26 March 1498

Richard QUYLTER, 26 March 1498.
Buried in the churchyard.
High altar for tithes 8d. To each Light in the church half a bushel of barley.
Wife Cecilie have two cows, five ewes, two lambs.
That my Executors sell six ewes to dispose for my soul, and four of the best trees growing in the garden of my messuage, formerly William TROPHAM’S to dispose for my soul, etc.
That five priests celebrate five masses on the day of my burial and trental.
Residue of goods after paying debts, etc. to my Executors – William QUYLTER my brother, the aforesaid Cecilie my wife, with Robert QUYLTER overseer.
That wife Cecilie have one cameram in my tenement called le Bose-sole, with half the kitchen and half the orrei (barn) as long as a widow; if she marry then William my brother have the other half.
Sons – Simon and Thomas.
Daughters – Elisabeth and Agnes five marcs at marriage.
Witnesses – John, vicar there, John HERYNG, Robert QUYLTER, John FRODDE, Simon BATE.
No Probate date.
