Richard BERCHELEY of Ebbeney, 22 April 1520.
Buried in the churchyard of Our Blessed Lady of Ebbeney.
High altar for tithes 4d. To the reparation of the church 6s.8d.
Helvise FRENCHE my servant a gowne, pair of sheets, matresse, shredcloth, bolster and pan.
Austen TELLYN a lamb, also the occupying of one couple of oxen for two months after my death.
At my outbearing month’s day and 12 month’s mind in masses 10s. An honest priest that can help to sing well and read divine service in the church and to pray for my soul and my wife’s soul, and all Cristen souls, a trentall of Saint Gregory £10.
William my son have all the residue of my goods, he to pay to his sister Alice £6, or to her assigns in three payments a month next after and he be churched, 40s; at my year’s mind 40s; half a year next after my year’s mind 40s. If she dies within any of these days of payment, the residue to William my son. Also son William have 6s.8d. every year the space of four years next after my death so that my son meddle not with my moveables during the four years. If he die within any of the said years without heirs, the residue goods to be sold and the money to find an honest priest to sing for my soule in the church of Ebbeney as long as the money will endure.
