Richard GOTISLE of St Peter’s in Thanet, 15 November 1493.
Buried in churchyard.
High altar 12d, and to each Light of which I am a brother a bushel of barley. Ad opus of the church 10s.
Joan, relict of Edward GOTISLEY 20s. William COPYN, barbautor (barber) 6s.8d. Ad opus of the church of the Friars of Sandwich 13s.4d.
Wife Denise have a mare, cow, ten sheep and half part of all grain, and all my utensilia.
Residue after paying debts, etc. to John GRAUNT, Thomas AUSTYN, and Stephen COLNER, my Executors.
Feoffees – William ROOKE and Nicholas GRAUNT.
Three acres of land in a field called Gotisle in three pieces – one acre at Chalkpette, one acre at Brodsteyr Hill, and three rods at Whitestretend, shall be sold, and money to my wife to pay debts.
Thomas AUSTYN have five rods of land at the south side of Gotisle and to his heirs for ever.
Wife Denise have one acre and half an acre, and half a rod at the Lynch beside Churche hill.
That William and John, sons of Edward GOTISLE have all my other lands and tenements, when of age of 21, but if they died without lawful heirs then to be sold, and money – to the making of a window in Chapel of St Nicholas in said church £10; to the separation of the church work of the Friars of Sandwich 20s; a priest to sing for our souls in the church of St Peter for half a year five marcs (£3.6s.8d); to the Church a Mass Book of value of ten marcs (£6.13s.4d), and any residue for our souls.
