To be buried in churchyard of St Enswithe of Brenzete.
High altar 16d. To my curate 8d. and the parish clerk 6d. Lights of St
Anthony, Holy Cross, St Mary, St Anne, St Katherine, 6d. each
Daughter Joane have a cow of red color, also one great patella, a
cooking pot eryd, great brass pot, two candlesticks of laton, one dish (papsidem),
two pewter saucers, one veru de fers (spit of iron), half a dozen
de disc ligu (dishes of wood), half a dozen of trenchours, two
pairs of sheets, two cushions, two virg (yards) panni (cloth)
russet and half part of the flax, two virg (yards) of blanket,
and a chest.
Son Robert have two virg (yards) de russet.
Residue after paying debts, etc. to my wife Benedicte and Stephen HARRY,
my Executors.
Feoffees – Thomas ATE RICHE, and William BENET.
Benet (sic) my wife have all my lands and tenements from the next
Feast of St Michael for 14 years, paying unto Robert my son after he is
14 years of age 18d. yearly; and to John my eldest son yearly 12d, after
14 years old until the time of my wife’s 14 years be ended.
If sons die, then to be sold, and wife Benet have six marcs (£4)
for residue of the 14 years; and to daughter Joan 40s, and daughter
Agnes 40s.
A suitable priest sing in the church for year for our souls.
If any sons live beyond the wife’s 14 years, then Feoffees to keep
same until William my youngest son is 22 years old, when all divided
among my sons.
