Will of John BIRCHELE of Snave, Kent 15 August 1485

John BIRCHELE of Snave, Wednesday after Assumption of B.V.M. (15 August) 1485.
Buried in churchyard.
High altar 6s.8d. Light of Holy Cross 20s. Light of Brotherhood of St Mary, a cow.
To the parish priest 3s.4d. and parish clerk 2s.
Henry BROOKE have four ewes, Thomas WARREN a cow, heifer and a bud, John MAKET 20s.
To my children all my utensilia and to each Executor 20s. for his labours.
Residue after paying debts to John SAMELL and Stephen ALKOE, my Executors.
Feoffees of my lands, tenements, etc. in parishes of Snave and Ivechurch – John WHITE and William COLKYN.
That son Thomas have all my lands, tenements in Snave and Ivychurch and to his heirs for ever, but if he die without heirs then to Alice my daughter and her heirs, but if Alice dead, then to be sold all the lands and tenements which were Thomas BIRCHELE my father obtained during his wife – then to a priest to sing in church of Snave for one year for our souls, etc, ten marcs (£6.13s.4d.) and to repair the vir and regia strata esc porta meam 13s.4d. and residue in good works.
