Abstract of St Lawrence Thanet Wills from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of John PEROTT 20 Dec 1493 of St Lawrence Thanet

John PEROTT of St Lawrence in Thanet, 20 December 1493.
Buried in churchyard.
High altar for tithes 12d. To each Light of which I am a Brother, a bushel of barley or 4d.
John SAWELL a pair of sheets.
Wife Joan all utensilia of my house, viz. aule, camere and kitchen.
Residue to wife Joan to pay debts, etc. who with George SAUNDER my Executors, with Stephen TERRE supervisor.
Feoffees – William PEASE and John KNOLLAR.
Acre and half a yard of land to be sold to pay debts, etc. whereof three yards head upon William LEVYN’S land and three yards and half at Tyborn and one yard at Ewynnynghope.
Wife Joan and her assigns have and occupy my place and five acres and a yard of land for her life, whereof one acre and half are on the west side of the tenement and two acres and half at Typhole, and a yard to the west of that and one acre by Nynne Hegge. After death of wife to be sold and if John KNOLLAR will buy it, he to have it within the price of any other by 20s. With the money a priest sing in the church for half a year for my soul, wife, father and mother, etc .To the reparation of the Rodeloft 10s. To the church work 6s.8d. To amend the way betwixt my house and the church 3s.4d. To Denys my daughter the wife of Simon TERRE 3s.4d. and to John TERRE her son, when 16 years old 3s.4d.
To the Light of the Sepulcar 8d. Unto the beme (sic) of St James the which I am a Brother of, unto a new beme 12d. and residue for my soul.
