Abstract of St Lawrence Thanet Wills from Arthur Hussey’s Manuscripts

Will of Thomas GAWDRE of St Lawrence Thanet 1 Jan 1487-8

Thomas GAWDRE of St Lawrence in Thanet, 1 January 1487-8.
Buried in the churchyard.
To the operibus of the church 8d. Light of St James a bushel of barley.
To John (son of John) BENETT a bushel of barley and 12d.
Wife Elene have all utensilia of my house, viz. aule, camere and coquina and the third part of my grain.
Executors – wife Elene and John BENETT.
Feoffees – William at STONE, John COPYN.
Four rods of land to be sold to pay debts.
Wife Elene have my messuage with one acre and three rods of land for her life, and wife to have every year in the church two masses for my soul, viz: one at Lent season and the other in the Crystemas week. After her death, all to be sold and money for a priest in the church for a quarter of year.
